Conviction by Jack Jordan
Conviction by Jack Jordan
Wade Darling stands accused of killing his wife and teenage children as they slept and burning their house to the ground. When the case lands on barrister Neve Harper’s desk, she knows it could make her career. A matter of days before the case, as Neve is travelling home for the night, she is approached by a man. He tells her she must throw the case or the secret about her husband’s disappearance will be revealed. Failing that, he will kill everyone she cares about, until she does as she is told. Neve must make a choice – go against every principle she has ever had, or the people she loves will die.
My review
This absolutely blew my mind away with the way the plot, ot plots, deepen as you are drawn deeper and deeper into the story. Once I started I couldn't put the book down as I was hungry to find out what happened in this compelling read. Chapter after chapter I was engrossed as there is so much about the story that was unexpected and I found myself regularly evaluating what I thought I had understood and then questioning what I felt about both Wade Darling and Neve Harper.
Jack has the ability to draw you in and make you feel as though you are actually sat in the courtroom listening to the witnesses and the evidence as well as being with Neve on her sleepwalking excursions and the rest of the mental turmoil and anguish she is facing in her own life.
This ability to make your reader change their minds on how they feel about a character is very clever and is not always pulled off by authors. However, Jack's mastery of playing with his readers minds is a skill in itself and consequently I am now going to treat myself to more books by this very talented author of gripping thrillers.
A huge 5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 read.
