Synopsis
Settled Blood is Mari Hannah's second gripping crime novel featuring DCI Kate Daniels.
When a young girl is found dead at the base of Hadrian’s Wall, it’s not long before Detective Chief Inspector Kate Daniels realizes her death was no ordinary homicide. She was thrown from a great height and was probably alive before she hit the ground.
Then a local businessmen reports his daughter missing, has Daniels found the identity of her victim, or is a killer playing a sickening game?
As the murder investigation team delve deeper into the case, half truths are told, secrets exposed, and while Daniels makes her way through a mountain of obstacles time is running out for one terrified girl.
My Review
As to be expected this was yet another gripping instalment in the life of DCI Kate Daniels as she embarks on yet another horrific and harrowing murder trail, with time at the essence if she is to dave the life of another young girl.
Like the first book in the series, Murder Wall, there are so many layers and hidden depths to the story that you find yourself questioning everything you are reading and trying to work with Kate as she tries to get into the mind of the killer in order to save Jessica.
I read the book in a couple of sittings due to being absolutely engrossed and there was no way that I was going to put it down until I had found out who had done it and if Jessica survived.
Yet again there was another strand to the story that I hadn't seen coming and this is something Mari Hannah is an expert in doing as she also controls the minds of her readers whilst the plot unfurls.
I have to be honest I have never encountered a Detective and Team of Officers that I like so much and Mari Hannah has the ability to make you feel as though you know them all personally, both professionally and in work. She really is an author to be reckoned with and is definitely in my top category of crime writers.
Right I'm now off to start the next book in the series.
