 The Dirty Dozen

 by Lynda La Plante

The Dirty Dozen by Lynda La Plante is published by Bonnier Books.

My thanks to the publisher for sending me a copy to review and to Compulsive Readers for inviting me to be a part of the #TeamTennison Tour.

Synopsis

Jane Tennison has worked hard to become the first female detective ever post to the infamous Flying Squad, or 'the Sweeney'. But the Dirty Dozen is a notorious boys' club, and Jane's new colleagues make it clear that they don't think a woman is up to the dangers of the job.

Dealing with some of London's most ruthless armed criminals, who think the only good cop is a dead cop, is no joke. Determined to prove she's as good as the men, Jane discovers from a reliable witness that a gang is going to carry out a massive robbery.

But she doesn't know who they are, or where and when they will strike . . .

My Review

This series is getting better and better with every book that I read. There is now far more emphasis on solving the crime, and there is plenty of it, that needs solving in The Dirty Dozen.

Tennison, once again, places herself in an all male team, this time in The Flying Squad, and has to win them over whilst working like a ferret to solve the crimes , before another one happens.

There are several threads within this storyline, some of them cross and some of them don't , each taking you on a journey to their chosen finale. Where they do cross it is cleverly done and the links between the characters and their sub-plots is brilliant.

I have to be honest Tennison is still a character that I do not warm to , though the storylines are good and draw you in to what is happening and unfurling within the plot. There is a touching part to the story where we have an insight into what is happening in her sister's life and how jane tries to help and support her.

So moving forwards the question you will be asking is will she still be in The Flying Squad for the next book in the series ?
