Synopsis

Joni has always felt like an outsider in her blended family.

She adored her childhood with mum and dad as their little unit of three. But when her mum passed away and her dad remarried shortly after, Joni’s world was shattered. As an adult she’s done all she can to avoid being part of the Ashford-Clyde clan. The only person she’s remained close to is her beloved Nana.

But when Nana dies, Joni is thrown back into their orbit.

Nana leaves behind something unexpected: an itinerary of pre-arranged activities for the whole family to complete over the course of a week. After years of trying but failing to bring Joni back into the fold, this appears to be Nana’s parting shot. After all, nothing says ‘family bonding’ quite like abseiling and ballroom dancing.

Why does she have to deal with this now?

With marriage and kids on the horizon, the life Joni’s always dreamed of is finally within touching distance. The last thing she wants to do is revisit the past.

But Joni’s about to discover that a lot can happen in seven days. Nana’s Week of Fun is about to change everything…

My Review

The concept behind this story is a novel one in which the family have to reunite for Nana’s week of fun. To say I loved it from start to finish is an understatement. It is an incredibly easy read that is difficult to put down as you hungrily want to find out what the next challenge is going to be and will they all stay together for it without falling out !!!!!.

The relationships and the tensions between them will keep you ensnared and on tenterhooks wondering if Joni will capitulate or not. The variety of relationships means that some of the characters you will warm to, others not as much, and there are others you will be asking yourself what went wrong when they were all younger and why.

This is a  lovely story about love and loss that will have you looking at your own relationships and hopefully appreciating them more than you may have done, whilst following Joni’s week with hope and trepidation. Even though this is a light read of a story there is a lot to be taken away and thought about from this lovely book.
