Thirty Days in Paris by Veronica Henry

Because Paris is always a good idea...

Thirty Days in Paris by Veronica Henry was published on 13th April 2023 by Orion. My thanks to the author and publisher for sending me a copy to review and to Random Book Tours for inviting me to take part on the tour.

Synopsis

Years ago, Juliet left a little piece of her heart in Paris - and now, separated from her husband and with her children flying the nest, it's time to get it back!

So she puts on her best red lipstick, books a cosy attic apartment near Notre-Dame and takes the next train out of London.

Arriving at the Gare du Nord, the memories come flooding back: bustling street cafés, cheap wine in candlelit bars and a handsome boy with glittering eyes.

But Juliet has also been keeping a secret for over two decades - and she begins to realise it's impossible to move forwards without first looking back.

Something tells her that the next thirty days might just change everything...

My Review

This is one of those wonderful "Shirley Valentine" type reads that , for us women of a certain age, allows you to dream about what might have been and maybe to envy Juliet the freedom she has, to revisit Paris, and come to terms with the past, whilst rekindling friendships and reinventing herself as the woman she wants to be.

Thirty Days in Paris is one of those lovely reads that draws you in, cocooning you in friendship and love and the ties of a good friendship that are never broken.

For those of you who have read previous stories by Veronica, Thirty Days in Paris won't disappoint as an easy read to sit down with with a lovely tasse de cafe and a pain au chocolate whilst also brushing up on your school girl French - in fact I was quite impressed how much I had remembered !!!!!.

The story flows seamlessly backwards and forwards between the young Juliet of her twenties to the post menopausal Juliet allowing you to build up the history whilst also understanding why she has come back to Paris.

As someone who , unbelievably has never been to Paris, I was left wanting to book the next Eurostar train and explore the streets, cemeteries and art work of this wonderful city of romance.
