Hidden Killers is Book 2 of the Tennison series.
Synopsis
When WPC Jane Tennison is promoted to the role of Detective Constable in London’s Bow Street CID, she is immediately conflicted. While her more experienced colleagues move on swiftly from one criminal case to another, Jane is often left doubting their methods and findings. As she becomes inextricably involved in a multiple rape case, Jane must put her life at risk in her search for answers.
My review
This is the second book in the Tennison series featuring WPC Jane Tennison. Building on what we learnt about Jane in the first book, Tennison, this second instalment certainly doesn't disappoint fans who are keen to know how Jane progresses now that she has been promoted to Detective Constable.
As with all Lynda La Plante books this is another of those absorbing thrillers where the story line takes you in many directions, and not necessarily the routes you think you think you will go down as it moves towards its gripping ending to leave you waiting with anticipation for the next book in the series.
One aspect I am beginning to realise that Lynda does extremely well is how she cunningly gets you to change your views and feelings about certain characters . I found that happened to me within Tennison and she did it again to me with Hidden Killers, all very cleverly and succinctly done without you fully realising it !!!
The way the various themes within the book weave around each other before being drawn to the conclusion is clever and ensure that you will find it difficult to put the book down until you have reached the last page. Only then will you able able to reflect on what you have read and wonder what jane will encounter next in her pursuit of promotion through the ranks.
Yet again this is another incredible 5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 read that any detective/murder mystery fan must read.
