Synopsis
Single All the Way is the third in the Singles’ Trilogy. The first book Singles’ Holiday was set in Antigua and the second Singles & Spice set in India. In this book, Travel Together Tour Manager Eve Mitchell is planning a quiet Christmas at home to rest and relax before a special New Year. But she soon, very unexpectedly, finds herself in the depths of the Essex countryside looking after a singles' group which contains some old, familiar faces and some pleasant - and not so pleasant - new ones.
With its country walks, quizzes, disco and black-tie ball, the Christmas and Twixmas Break passes quickly, but just as they think it's all over the plot takes a twist and we learn some dark secrets...
My Review
As this is the third book in the series we, once again, find some of the characters returning for yet another "Singles" holiday, this time set in the English countryside at Christmas, along with some new characters that are thrown into the mix.
Elaine keeps that mix of humour, characterisation, sauciness and , at times, suspense going throughout the book so that those of us who have read the previous books feel as though we have slotted back into the Travel Together mode with Eve. I have to be honest I would not be paid to do Eve's job !!!!
This is a book to sit down with in front of a roaring fire, or in a snuggly fleecy blanket, a glass of wine and a box of chocolates and lose yourself for a few hours in the snowy winter countryside at Christmas and enjoy, especially the lovely setting.
About the Author
Elaine Spires is a novelist, playwright and actress. Extensive travelling and a background in education and tourism perfected Elaine's keen eye for the quirky characteristics of people, captivating the humorous observations she now affectionately shares with the readers of her novels. Elaine’s latest book The Single Best Thing, is a fitting finale to the Singles’ Series, which has its roots in her background as a tour manager for a UK tour operator.
Elaine is now working on The Banjo Book Two, which is set in Dagenham where she grew up and now resides. A banjo is a pedestrianised cul-de-sac and Dagenham has many! This book will be out in the autumn.
Elaine also writes plays and her short film Only the Lonely was made by Dan Films and won the Groucho Club Best Short Film Award 2019 and two Silver Awards at WOFFF 2019.
Elaine is waiting for a film-maker with vision to turn the Singles Series into films or TV dramas.
