My Review
As with all good books this one starts with a map. For me you cannot beat a map at the beginning of a book to grab your imagination and lure you into the following pages.
This is a book that will appeal to the 8 - 12 year age group as well as older readers who need to develop their reading skills. It is the Fifth book in the series and , though I have not read the previous four books , it sits really well as a standalone book if you are coming across The Island of Animaux for the first time.
The book covers a varied number of topics in the five stories which are current to children today and the experiences they may come across early in life in regards to grief and loss along with environmental issues.
This is definitely a collection of stories for the children of today and addresses issues that they may face through the wonderful Animaux characters and how they support each other through love and friendship. I like the fact that the stories are not too long and will keep the reader's attention throughout.
Aubrey the Turkey will live on in your thoughts for a long time and yes I did find myself searching for the Island of Animaux's position at the beginning of each story thanks to the given co-ordinates''. Did I find it ? well who knows ...........................
