Bye Bye Baby by Fiona McIntosh
Bye Bye Baby
by Fiona McIntosh
It all began in Brighton.
Now it’s February 2003 and there is a serial killer on the loose.
Scotland Yard′s brightest talent is chosen to head up the high-profile taskforce: Jack Hawksworth is a DCI who must confront his own past as the body count rises.
There are few leads and Hawksworth can only fall back on instinct and decades-old cold cases for any clue to the killer′s motive and identity.
With his most loyal team member threatening to betray him, a Superintendent pushing for results, a hungry British media clamouring for information, and a restless public eager for a conviction, the high-pressure operation can only end in a final shocking confrontation...

My Thoughts
How on earth have I managed to read the amount of books I have read , and I mean hundreds, if not thousands, and not come across Fiona McIntosh before now.
To say I was hooked on Bye Bye Baby from the very beginning is an understatement. I couldn’t, and wouldn’t, put it down until I reached the very last page.It is gripping , all consuming and quite honestly one of the best Detective books I have read for a long time.
What really intrigued me as I was reading it was that I was feeling such a mix of emotions about the killer due to the fact that I totally got where they were coming from and could understand the reasoning and rationale behind everything they were doing. This plays havoc with what you know you should feel , which is repulsion and anger for what they are doing and hoping that DCI Jack Hawksworth and his team find them quickly, to what you actually feel, in my case, which is that I hope they finish the task they set out to do.
I can’t say much more other that you seriously need to read this novel and then wait for No Exit Press to publish the rest of the DCI Jack Hawksworth series in the UK because, believe you me, the Aussie’s have kept them to themselves for far too long .
