The Inheritance

 by Trisha Sakhlecha

Many thanks to Trisha and Century books for sending me a review copy and to

Tracy at Compulsive Readers for inviting me onto the Book Tour.

On a private island off the west coast of Scotland, the Agarwals gather for a much-awaited family reunion…

Raj, the patriarch and business tycoon, who has six weeks to decide how to split his petrochemicals empire between his three children.

Shalini, the fragile mother, who longs to see her family healed.

Myra, the eldest daughter and golden child, who, unbeknownst to the family, is on the brink of bankruptcy.

Aseem, the son and supposed heir, who must choose between his wife and his family.

Aisha, the fun-loving youngest daughter, who is tired of being treated like a child.

And Zoe, the outsider whose
#Instaperfect life is built on a foundation of lies.

They’ve all got secrets that they would die to protect.

But only one of them is capable of murder.

My Thoughts

I appreciate that we are only a few weeks into the New Year however, I feel sure that this is going to be on my best books of the year list along with my new author list.

I like the fact that the story is told through the eyes of Myra and Zoe, two completely different members of the Agarwal family. The picture you build up of the lives and secrets of this seemingly close knit family is skilfully done by Trisha to the extent that you feel as though you are on the island with them, questioning what is happening and the different relationships within the family. Murder wise Trisha keeps you in suspense and cleverly uses this to draw you deeper and deeper into the narrative whilst wondering all the time who is hiding what secrets and why.

Set yourself a good few hours to one side for this incredible book and read it all in one go as, believe me, you don’t want to be disturbed.
