My thanks to Samantha for sending me a copy of
Nero The Hero
to review and to
Rachel's Random Resources
for inviting me onto the book tour.

Synopsis

Prepare to meet your new favourite superhero as Nero the Hero reveals his secret!

Nero is no ordinary dog. This miniature schnauzer has a beard, a bark, and a secret. When danger strikes, he transforms into Nero the Hero, a powerful protector with extraordinary abilities.

Alongside his human, twelve-year-old Jack, Nero dives into fast-paced adventures filled with mystery, heart, and just a touch of fun. But when Jack makes a brave mistake and finds himself in real danger, Nero must face his greatest challenge yet to save his best friend alone.

Perfect for readers aged 8-12, this highly illustrated chapter book blends action-packed fantasy with an engaging, accessible style, making it ideal for reluctant readers and confident young bookworms alike. With short chapters and dynamic illustrations, Nero the Hero is a thrilling start to a children’s fantasy series about friendship, bravery, and daring rescues.

My Thoughts

What a lovely story Nero The Hero is . It is centred around the heroic escapades of the loveable miniature schnauzer, Nero, and Jack who comes to stay with his Grandma Jean for the summer holidays. Initially the heroics are straightforward ones that many children will understand and may even have some experience of.

As Jack starts to fully understand the magic that Nero and his Grandma have the story develops into many adventures for them all and I love that we meet up with Mr Mishkins from one of Samantha’s earlier books.

I cannot say much more as I don’t want to give too much away about this lovely book other than the language is written in such a way that this makes it an ideal book to read to younger children a chapter at a time and then older children will enjoy re visiting it and reading it for themselves.

This is the first in a series about Nero and I am sure that he will soon acquire a following of young fans all wanting their very own purple "Hero" cape.
